The calendar was last changed on Jan. 4, 2009. Please check it out for the latest news on events happening in and around Horseshoe Valley.
Food Drive 2008
was held on Thursday, Dec 4th. It was a great success with a tremendous number of donations for the Salvation Army. The HVPOA would like to thank all Horeshoe residents who donated. With special thanks to the organizers this year, Brenda and Jim Hodgens and to all the volunteers who delivered flyers and made the pick ups.

The last gasps of construction have been completed for the first phase of the park.

Many thanks to Derek Watson and his construction team for doing and donating the work, and Shawn Binns (Dir. Parks & Rec) for 'keeping us to the rules' and sourcing the exercise equipment.
Also, thanks to Judy Sutherland and Tom Kurtz and the many volunteers who have put in hundreds of hours so far and are looking at many more.
This winter there will be a 60'x120' open air ice surface and plenty of parking space. Mac Shiells will be organizing a roster of 'Rink Rats' to maintain the ice through the winter. A 1" water outlet is situated at the rink site to facilitate easy flooding.

Citizen of the Year Many people who reside here have proven themselves time and time again with regards to giving back to our community in a positive way. This year the HVPOA is starting the Good Citizen Program in order to recognize these people. The Good Citizen Program will have a two-fold incentive:
- To recognize those individuals who are making important contributions in our community, improve safety, and help others, and
- To instill in others the importance of what these individuals are doing and encourage others to strive to make a difference as well.
The HVPOA is asking for nominations from anyone who knows of someone (student, adult, first responder) that has given back to our community, improved, and/or cared for it, or has cared for others.
The nominees will be recognized on a quarterly basis in the Valley Voice. They will also be commended at the Annual Wine & Cheese Party where a draw will be held for a prize.
To nominate someone, please send an email to
with the subject as "Citizen of the Year" and stating the Nominee's Name, What they did, How they achieved this goal and the positive impact it had on our community, Your Name and Telephone Number. Note: To send Jenn an email just click on her name in the previous sentence.
