The Horseshoe Valley Property Owners Association (HVPOA) would like to extend a warm welcome to you.

If you are not already a member of the HVPOA you may want to take a minute to check out the How to Join page and then hopefully take another minute to join up.

This page was created in order to answer many of the questions you may be asking, such as, when is garbage day, what do I do with all that snow, what do I do about TV hookup....

Green House Numbers

Your Municipal House Address System Emergency (or Green) number is extremely important to emergency response units (Police, Fire and Ambulance) in assisting them to locate your property in the event of an emergency. Your MAS number must be installed close to your driveway entrance and must be visible from both directions.

If you require a new MAS number sign, contact the Oro-Medonte Adminstration office.

TV

There are 2 choices: satellite or Horseshoe cable.

The Horseshoe Resort is proud to be the smallest cable provider in Ontario. They provide 40 channels (more or less). The standard lineup costs $24.95 per month while the deluxe package costs about $35. The channel lineup is as follows:

High Speed Internet Connections

High speed connections are available in the Horseshoe community.

Snow Removal

The majority of the Horseshoe community hires Don Woodrow to clear their driveways. You can reach him at 835-5733. Usually, after the first year, he will do your driveway automatically unless you tell him otherwise.

Garbage Collection

Garbage and Blue Boxes are collected every Tuesday, (the following work day if it falls on a holiday). You should have your garbage out by 7 am. Regular waste is limited to 2 bags per week (max 44 lbs. each). County of Simcoe garbage tags are available at $2.00 each for excess waste. Tags can be purchased from Municipal Offices and retail outlets.

Leaf and yard waste are picked up once in the spring and once in the fall so we usually deal with that on our own. The local landfill site will take leaves for free. This landfill site is located at 610 Old Barrie Road West (between Edgar and Hardwood Hills). The hours of operation are Mon-Fri 9:00a.m. to 4:30p.m. and Sat from 9:00a.m. to 3:30p.m. Tel: 487-2375.

If you do opt to go with the leaf and yard waste collection, the bags should be at the road by 7 a.m. on Monday of the collection week. USE ONLY Brown Kraft bags, cardboard boxes or rigid containers weighing less than 20 kg. NO PLASTIC BAGS They will not pick up stumps, brush, branches or garden waste. Please check the community calendar for the pickup dates.

There is a large item collection allotted twice a year. All items must be placed at the road by 7 a.m. of the collection week. A maximum of 4 items such as furniture, bed springs, mattresses, stoves, washers and metals will be accepted. Please check the community calendar for the dates.

Left-over paints, drain decloggers, batteries, motor oil and electronics are part of a long list of items classified as ‘household hazardous wastes’ (HHW). If not disposed of properly, they can be harmful to human health and the environment. Pouring hazardous waste down the drain may corrode plumbing, release toxic fumes, poison septic tanks, destroy sewage treatment organisms and contaminate surface and ground water.

Household hazardous waste such as: aerosol cans, batteries, pesticides, antifreeze, disinfectants, fertilizer, flea powder, floor wax, fluorescent tubes, metal polish, oil & oil filters, gasoline, oven cleaner, paints and stains, pharmaceudicals, propane tanks, solvents, swimming pool chemicals and wood preservatives may be taken to one of the following locations (free of charge):
